Program Office Assistant Divorced
After high school, I couldn’t afford to go to college, so I worked at Commercial National Bank until I was hired at the USDA, Agricultural Research Service,  in June 1970--been there ever since. I am a Program Support Assistant, and anxious to reitre SOON. Thirty nine years in one place is plenty! However, I plan on finding a part time job. I enjoy gardening, pet sitting, and fixing up my house. I have two nephews who live in Jacksonville, FL: John Orr has 3 children 16, 17, and 12 years; and Randy Orr, 2 children, 9 and 6 yrs old. Their father, Jim Orr, is a graduate of Richwoods 1966. My sister Charlene (Murphy) Henry is a graduate of 1967 and lives here. I also have one niece “in-law” and two nephew “in laws” who are all attending college and with whom I share as much time as I can.

After graduating from high school, I went to the Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, graduating in 1973 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The Naval Academy came as quite a shock to me - I had never seen the ocean and had no knowledge about the Navy. Somehow I survived that experience. I received a Masters Degree from Georgia Tech (nuclear engineering) in 1974, thinking that nuclear power might be a promising civilian career. Mais non.

I spent 20 years in the Navy in submarines, including command of the fast attack submarine USS Buffalo (SSN715). My Navy career was pretty demanding, with a lot of difficult technical work mixed with occasionally unique and interesting experiences. It was actually quite an adventure, though it seemed perfectly normal at the time. I’m still trying to appreciate that. I have lived and traveled to many different places. USS Buffalo was recently decommissioned. It’s been 25 years since I left the Navy.

I retired in 1993 and worked for 5 years at the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington as a research coordinator.

I married Brenda Prowse in 1989. She sold me a house when I moved to Washington State in 1985 to be executive officer on the Trident submarine Henry M Jackson. Years later, after I left the Navy and UW, I became part of her real estate company, which we started and operated together for 15 years in Poulsbo, Washington. At the end of 2012 we closed our brokerage. Brenda told me she wanted to move to Paris, France. Though I said that it would be impossible, though we first planned to stay only a year, we're still here after 5 years. We sold our house and most of our stuff, moving only some pieces of furniture, dishes, and some clothes to France in 2015. We wish we had moved less stuff.

When we lived in Poulsbo we traveled quite a bit, skiing in Europe, making several trips to Italy, visiting China in 2005 and India in 2006. Living in Europe is different than being on vacation, but we still have traveled a lot. We’ve become good friends with a French couple and have traveled with them to Cuba, Bali, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Tunisia, Corfu (Greece), and Thailand, as well as shorter trips within France. We mostly speak French together and have become part of their family, usually meeting them for dinner on Sundays, after which we play Scrabble in French. They have introduced us to a French experience that we could never have found for ourselves.

I still run for exercise and this year finished my 25th Bloomsday 12k race in Spokane, WA. My mother-in-law lives there and still walks the race with my wife at age 92.

I’ve spent much of the past 5 years studying French and learning about French culture and history. Learning French has been a humbling experience. We have a web site - you can search for Much Ado About Paris.

Hi Everyone,

It doesn't seem possible that we graduated 40 years ago.  My life has been full of adventure since then.  I was in the Navy for 20 years.  I retired in 1991. After living i the San Diego CA area I returned to Peoria in 1997.  Many things have changed but that is progress. I have been married twice and I have 4 boys. I married Amy Flynn, who graduated with us, in 2002  Presently I work for a retailer called WalMart (maybe you have heard of us).  What do I do there you ask?  My official tite is overnite grocery manager but I do whatever they say.  If I can get some time off I will be at the reunion I haven't been to one yet.  Look forward to hearing from some of you and I will try to put some pictures on here.

Remodeling Contractor Married 2
After RHS I went to school for most the year at CSU in CO.  Left to change the world....and be changed.  I  returned to Peoria for a few years, including one at Bradley, spent a year in Allentown PA where I met my wife Terri.

We came back here to CO where we have lived ever since, in the northern parts of the Denver area.  I built the house, where we live now, in 1984 and have no plans to move.  Why would one leave this remarkable state for more than a visit somewhere?

I remodel houses, especially kitchens, baths, windows and occasionally still siding.  In addition I have done a couple of fix and flips.

Life is good.  I still try to make a difference, thinking globally and acting locally.
